Sifu is a roguelike beat ’em up developed by the French studio Sloclap, released in February 2022.

Blending intense hand-to-hand combat with a unique aging mechanic, the game was praised for its challenging gameplay, stylized environments, and narrative depth.
It sold over 1 million copies within its first month and received critical acclaim from both players and the press.

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch

I worked on SIFU as a Sound Designer at Sloclap for over a year, from mid-production to release.

My responsibilities covered a broad range of tasks across the game’s audio pipeline, including:

  • Cutscenes

    • Designed and implemented the entire soundscape for all in-game cinematics — from spotting and editing to final polish — with a focus on emotional impact, rhythm, and narrative clarity.

  • UI Feedback

    • Created and integrated sound assets for several user interface components, aiming for clarity, responsiveness, and consistency with the game’s aesthetic.

  • Ambiences

    • Designed environmental soundscapes to enhance immersion and support the identity of each level, using layered textures and dynamic systems.

  • Foley & Footsteps

    • Recorded, edited, and implemented various footsteps and foley sounds tailored to characters, materials, and animations, while maintaining a balance between realism and gameplay readability.

I also

  • Integrated all audio assets using Wwise and Unreal Engine 4, with careful attention to memory constraints and interactive behavior.
  • Worked closely with animators, level designers, and narrative teams to sync audio to gameplay and storytelling needs.
  • Took part in internal reviews and QA passes to ensure sound consistency, debug audio triggers, and polish transitions.
